Just in your opinion which is better.

depends on major, preferences (ex: weather), etc..

judging from cali perspective: stanford

In "The Gatekeepers" the student who got into both schools chose Yale because she lived in California.

yale... but that's intuitive just because many on the east coast call stanford the "lesser ivy" not true obviously as it's as hard to get into, but that seems to be the consensus here in jersey

That is, of course, a very subjective judgement. I don't know much about Yale, but I attended Stanford and have a son graduating from it this year, so I would have to go with Stanford. Great weather--well, except for this year and the year I lived in an apartment off campus and had to ride my bike to classes--stimulating intellectual environment, but still laid back and not at all cut-throat, great overseas study opportunities, and a very diverse bunch of students.

So close in general that it doesn't matter; make your decision on other factors. Particular department, particular prof(s), the East/West coast dyanamic (go to the Other), etc.

D loved Yale, felt okay about Stanford.
