I have no problem with people who don't like Stanford. Sure, the school has its faults, as every school does. But I do have a problem with idiots who troll around and post nonsense. I don't care which board it is. No forum should be trashed like that.

Go check out the Berkeley board and then repeat those comments to your buddies.

^ those people are as pathetic as baba and yes you! going to a board bashing a school without offering any logical argument is just retarded.

And you are pathetic for calling me retarded.

Stanford vs california
45% enrollment from 10% from US population( CA)
60% from 15% of Us Population(west Coast/pac-10)

CA private high schools among 2 in top 50.
CA public schools , check out Newsweek top 100 ranking
Nationally Weak CA High school system feeding 50% Leland Stanford Jr Collge enrollement. Wecome to UC palo alto.

Well, just for fodder- A kid at my school (I think a val) was rejected from Stanford and is going to Yale. And he's disappointed. Stanford is a v.big deal here, even more so in some ways than Ivies. A friend's brother got Regents scholarship at UCLA and into Brown and some other ivies but not Stanford. He's at Pomona now.

I agree with the assessment that those who live in Cal would like to stay here if they get into Stanford. Why leave when we've got an incredible school within range of nearly everything in this state? And it's definitely harder to get into than UCB, and kids who get into Stanford GO to Stanford. (Considering we have, what, 1/6 of the country's population?- I agree with not taking the stats about in-state retention too seriously unless you encompass the ENTIRE NE)

This is also a bit of fodder: Kids who get into stanfurd might GO to stanfurd, but a survery done with stanfurd students showed that 1/3 of those that applied were rejected from Berkeley, which goes against most people's view of the Cal/stanfurd relationship.

36/300 IS 12% THAT IS CLOSE TO 1/8TH. CORRECTION.

a 12% POPULATION FEEDING 50% of class close enough.

Percentage of repetitive posts: ~100%
Accuracy of posts: ~10%
Suspected IQ: ~90
Likelihood of bitter rejection from all top-tier schools: ~100%
Likelihood that he has a life: ~0%

more snacks for my dog.

SFord 19000 applicants with 13% admit rate. 1000 enrolled from california( assume 2/3 yield). To get 12% admit rate need 12000 applicants from california.something is missing here.
if take 1000 for international then you 6000 left for rest of the country.
If you take another 2000 for West (ex Ca), then you 4000 for rest of the countryt.
Take another 2000 for MidWest/south, then you 2000 left for NE.

More than 2000 NE apply to Colgate. That is prestige I guess.

baba is such a troll and an amusing one at that. Its funny that he says Penn needs to work on its English department, perhaps the english department is lacking closer to home baba?

reality check for Leland Stanford Jr College
19000 applicants

CA: 12000 applicants 10% ademit 1200 80%Yield 960 enrolled
westexca 2000 app 10% admit 200 80%yield 160 enrolled
MW/South 2000app 30%admit 600 50% yield 300 enrolled
NE 2000app 20% admit 400 25% yield 100enrolled
Int 1000 15% admit 150 80% yield 120 enrolled

lol rejection drives you to do some weird things to make you feel better. dont worry baba there is light at the end of the tunnel. pats on the back.

baba, all I can see is a series of arbitrary numbers.

btw...baba..Jane and Leland Stanford built Stanford to teach and illuminate their California children. if you dont believe me...look it up on the Stanford website. It is because of this that 40% of Stanford students are from California. Also, remember that California is one of the biggest states in the nation so it is likely that they'll have more applicants from CA. Plus, CA applicats are pretty competitive. The reason HYPM does not take 40% from their own states is because MA, CT, NJ aren't as big as CA. and UC Palo Alto..are you nuts?? that's like calling Harvard...University of Mass at Cambridge. Common, be realistic.

CA is 10% of US population. Ca PREP SCHOLKS pvt 2 IN 50, pUBLIC nEWSWEEK TOP 100 ONLY 4 ca SCHOOLS jERSEY WITH 6MM POPULATION HAS 4 PUB SCHOOLS IN TOP 100.

aNY OF YOU DINGBATS KNOW HOW MANY ca APPLICANTS IN 19000, i WOULD SAY MORE THAN 12000. i WOULD SAY WITH or, wa, aZ, iNTERNATIONAL, COUNT WILL BE CLOSE TO 15000. SO 80% OF THE US IS ONLY SENDING ABOUT 4000 APPLICANTS.

sTANFORD MUST ADMIT 20-30% OF ne APPLICANTS SINCE THEY MUST HAVR 25% YIELD.

uc OF pALO ALTO fOR ca APPLICANTS, BY ca APPLICANTS AND ucb REJECTS.

awww he used the word dingbat. are you getting desperate for attention now??? Stanford is amazing. just admit it and move on

Ever wonder why UC palo Alto does not publish regional breakdown of applicants/admits/enrollments. This breakdown is routine and always provided by IVY. Reasons IVYs know who they want to go after and how to balance their class. And they do a good job. MIT has a same problem. UCPA should simply provide regional breakdown applicants/enrollments then you would know the facts of life.

omg can this end?
