Any student on a waitlist needs to enroll at a college that accepted them incase they don't get off the waitlist. Then if your waitlist school takes you, you call the 1st school and say you're not coming after all. You lose any deposits you have put down.

i got waitlisted at stanford, too. here are my stats:
- female asian, from vermont
- 2260 SAT, 730 SAT II Bio, 740 SAT II Lit, 670 SAT II math 2c
- 4.0 GPA unweighted
- rank 9/326
my questions are- how big is the stanford wait list, when will we be notified if we've been accepted, and what are my chances of getting in?

I've been reading alot about waitlist and they typically accept 0-60 people each year depending on their estimates. I got waitlisted as well at some top schools, but the sad news is that the better the school the less likely they will take people from waitlist because so many people want to go to them(and most don't pass up the opportunity unless they have multiples acceptances at like harvard and yale, which is rare)

The way I see it is don't think about it, because if you do it would be another two months of agony. Most schools notify you either in mid may or late June, which really sucks because it is so late. Not worth waiting for. Just put your name on the list and move on

Yeah. If you don't mind, does anyone also know how large Dartmouth's is and even Bowdoin's? I'm curious. I heard it's almost impossible to get off the waitlist.

is there any way to increase our chances of being picked off the waiting list?

anyone else received stanford waiting list?
