stanford

does stanford give more weight to high school work or ur college work?

this is my stats:
sat 1: 1880
sat 2 us history: 780
hs gpa: 3.7
5 ap's : three 5's, two 3's

expected college gpa: 3.75 or 4.0

major: art history or history

i know that admission rate to stanford is really tiny, especially if ur sat isn' t that high. but, i figured that i have demonstrated that i am " passionate" about learning. so, with a brilliant essay of how passionate i am, what are my chances?

how many credits do you have?

I am sure many applicants have 3.6 - 4.0 GPA...and I bet most of them have at least 2100 SAT 1...

noone really knows your chances... :) but in my opinion, (realistically) you have very slim chances

well, it sort of also depends what college you are coming from, where did you get that 3.75 or 4.0 from?

I think he goes to Mt. San Jacinto College...I remember reading it from his other posts...

I think it's a community college...

well, a 3.75 or 4.0 is definitely solid, however a student going to a competitve school trying to transfer with somewhat lower gpa may be valued higher....and a student with the same gpa would most def be viewed higher, howeever that is just on the grounds of gpa. admissions is a wholistic process, so that alone would not probably do you in. you always have a chance.

...I am applying to Stanford from Cal with a 3.87 and I still have an incredilby slim chance, so I wouldn't bank on admission to stanford, i know im not

Stanford is a great school...I wish I studied harder in HS haha :(

Now I regret...

i swear, if my future kids (yea...stupid idea) don't study and screw around...I will break their legs

lol bit over reacting but...i feel compelled to def teach them and guide them into studying hard...oh well :)

hey, its all good, undergraudate is way overrated, you can do well wherever you are. Its all about how well you do now, the past is past. It is far more importnat what you do in college than where you go, remember that.

use that regret to work harder now, thats what im doing

^^^^ that's right. Kick ass wherever you go and go to grad school.

lol 1880 is a bit weak
