Also the following schools please
Columbia (General Studies)
Wash U St. Louis
Duke
Brown (7 year med program)

Thank You

better chances than a lot of people, but i think its cool that you tied your athletic EC with community service

you're a typical competitive applicant. Very typical though with long distance running, high scores, and other average awards.

let's see......

4.0gpa...valedictorian......1600sat.......500hrs volunteer......cancer research......great EC's.......plausible awards.....

you do the math.

.........thats the damn problem, you'llsee...the fact that you're treating him with his stats shows that he's the typical great student applying to top-tier school. You're giving nothing spectacular

Why are you applying to GS at Columbia? That's usually for returning or older students.

First off, you have got an amazing resume to say the least. Congratulations. Now, in my opinion, these are your chances:

Stanford (SCEA)- reach
Columbia (General Studies)- reach
Wash U St. Louis- match (you may want to try the university scholars program)
Duke- high match
Brown (7 year med program)- not too sure, probably low reach since it's the most competitive in the nation

I don't mean to be harsh, but Stanford is a reach for everyone unless you have a hook (urm, legacy, athlete, celebrity). However, you have as good a shot as anyone. Also, I would suggest some more match schools and 1 safety school (probably U of Florida where you will get a full ride). Have you looked into Northwestern's HPME program (direct admit to med school)? Also, I would say that you are a shoo-in at Cornell and a very high match for Penn. Good luck to you.

yea I have safety schools
These schools (other than Stanford) were some that I considered possible matches.
And I mean SEAS not GS for Columbia- mixed the two up.
Any more input?

^SEAS isn't that popular of a program so as long as your app is good, you've got a decent shot.

Stanford:reach
Columbia: reach
Wash U: High match
Duke- high match/low reach
Brown (med program): high reach-these things are EXTREMELY competitive only 5% or so of the applicants are admitted
