Stanford

Hi. I am from the East and I have very good stats. However, while all my peers are looking at the Ivies, especially Harvard, I want to apply to Stanford early. No one in my school has attended Stanford in years because they choose Harvard over Stanford, which makes me sick. I love Stanford and I would really like to attend if I get in. Does anybody (esp people from the West) know about Stanford admissions? quotas? what is emphasized more than the others? important areas on the application? etc?

Try the Stanford board:

thanks. How do I show my interest in Stanford if the first thing they realize is "all the kids in her school turn us down for Harvard. She would too"?

First of all, definitely apply EA if it's your first choice. Also, it can't hurt to write a sincere letter to the adcoms that expresses your interest in Stanford and the fact that it is your first choice school. Make sure the letter is very genuine, though, because a generic/transparent one won't help at all.

but they don't want "extra paper" and emailing/letters won't make you "a more interested student"

The Texas cut-off is 217. Commended is 202.
