I have a 1970! (580 CR and 630 W!) I’m still applying to Stanford (with no aid! :P)!

Don’t refer the median/average scores! Remember: for every kid with a 2400 who gets accepted, there is a kid with a 2000 who gets accepted too! :)

Lol nooooooo I wasn’t correcting your English, I meant that I doubt that for every 2400-er they accept a 2000-er. They probably accept a lot more 2400-ers.

I’m a pessimist, clearly. But I just don’t want to get all hopeful and attached. I’m attached enough to Amherst. :(

Good luck with your app man! Your math score won’t matter unless you have an engineering major. I’m sure that your major isn’t engineering since you’re applying to Amherst. You haven’t applied to HYP?

@smiit- I love Amherst, and my major is physics. Don’t be so prejudiced about LACs
And I applied to stanord to. But I need aid and my supplement was conpleted in 25 mins and subbmitted over 3 hours late
So NO chance. I don’t particularly love stanford. I applied just coz of a faculty member that I know and he’s pretty awesome :P

i applied to stanford RD… but i basically thing SAT scores are useless in determining admissions to unis like stanford,MIT,etc. its all on the supplements, essays, recommendations…
(btw i got 2290 on SAT reasoning and 2400 in SAT subject(physics,chem,math2))

No man! I am NOT prejudiced towards LACs! In fact, LACs are very tough to get into! Have you applied to Bard College? One of my friends (Class of 2013) told me that its an awesome LAC! :)

But I’m inclined more towards engineering (specifically CS/CompE)

Admission to HYPSM is crapshoot. And you might have an advantage (a significant one) if the faculty member whom you’re familiar with knows the adcoms!

25 minutes!? Wow! That’s quick! It took me 42 days to write essays for Stanford (Haha, I’m weak at English, and I’m lazy too! :P)

hmm no i didnt apply for aid because i thought my credentials arent enough and the aid pool is damn competitive really for stanford…grades and scores are secondary to your dedication and essays and all
