for prequisites, can I send them my college transcript, and/or highschool transcripts to verify my placement?

EPGY's requirements are not like college requirements, because it is a program for elementary and secondary students. See the application and registration page on the EPGY site for more details. You're near the maximum age for program participation at age seventeen.

Tony - as long as you have the pre-requisites (the site will tell you what they are) for whatever class you want, just sign up. I think they use the honor system because I never had to send in a transcript. I don't think there is an age limit if you're taking university-level calc/ analysis, etc.

ok, thanks you two. JC, that's what I'm planning to take.

I appreciate the feedback.

There's the senior at my school who's been accepted to Harvard taking one or two class through there as well.

Damn, Stanford is really expensive.

um...they have college courses as well (for maths)

When i was signing up for multivariable calculus, they said that an AP calc bc grade was required. However, i never had to submit mine, since for some reason my name was already in their directory.

hehe you dont need to submit it. i made a 5 but i never mailed it in and took it anyway.

Is it really worthwhile? 2 summer courses at a local university will cost me about $2500, but the question is, will other schools (MIT, Caltech, Stanford, etc..) consider these courses (at EPGY)? I mean what's the difference in doing that or self-studying?

if you are interested..just do it.
its a lot of proofs...they say its formal, but its semi-formal.
and i guess it shows that you have engaged yourself in higher learning
either way...if you like math...go for it.
ask for finaid.

how good does it look for stanford?

take it only if you like it; otherwise don't be wasting your money.

I agree smiliekat - I love EPGY, but there is tons of homework so I would have given it up just for that if I didn't love the class itself. They don't really check the hw, but it's easier to get through whatever comes next if you've really done it. Hw just takes a long time, and some of it seems useless, ... but then sth pops up and you realize it wasn't that useless.

haha which "mentor" did you have?

Jonathan :)

Did you guys take MV Calc and Modern Physics? AND how much did it take you to finish it? Thanks!

i had marc. i was supposed to have jon though, but he left. he sounded cool (er) hehe. i never really collaborated with my mentor.
it's not hard h88, if you like the subject
it just requires self-discipline. i finished 2/3 of the course in the first 2 months, but waited for 4 months before i started my last 1/3. lol...so its all a matter of discipline!
as far as how much? errrr.....depends on how good you are at math.
the tests are 3 hours long, but most of them are proofs.

Thanks smiliekat. Yeah, I really like the subject so that won't be a problem!

I was also wondering, did you get a grade? Isn't' there any sort of exam in the end?

three tests and thats all that counts for your grade
got an a

I'n in it and taking multivariable calc, I'm taking the final tomorrow
