I'm deciding between a master's degree in MS&E and Financial Mathematics at Stanford. What are the differences between the two, in terms of admission requirements, competitiveness, and job opportunities? For my undergrad, I major in Chemical Engineering.

Also, what's the difference between a full-time MBA at Stanford and these two programs?

As a Stanford MS&E M.S./B.S., I think the MS&E program is more competitive. As for job prospects, well, I found them to be rather slim with my MS&E M.S., but it depends what you’re looking to do. I was trying to get into biomedical companies as an R&D Engineer.

As a side note, I wish I could trade my Stanford MS&E M.S. for your Chemical Engineering B.S. I found out the hard way that it’s not easy getting into Bioengineering PhD programs with an MS&E degree!
