Starbucks

I got a job at my local Starbucks.

On top that it being inherently awesome that I’m working here, It’s even better because I can potentially transfer to the Thayer Street Starbucks at the end of the summer. And that would be amazing because I’m a total caffeine junkie, and this would save me tons of money. And then there’s the prospect of having spending money, too. And that Starbucks gives its employees $500-1000 per semester towards tuition. And that it’d be a great way to meet some of my fellow Brunonians who I wouldn’t normally see ever (no doubt every Brown student loves Starbucks).

I love Starbucks, therefore I am a Brown student.

I hope that's how it works. :p

Congrats on getting a job! I tried to get a job at my local Starbucks, but there were like 30 kids from my school applying, and I had the worst available hours, so.... I didn't get it. Shucks.

Hope to see you there... and I probably will (if I go to Brown) because I live off Starbucks. Mmmmmm... tasty.

hmm.. my brown interview was at starbucks...in georgia....does that count? lol :D

Do you know what would rock! If Starbucks were open later. Anyone else get into the middle of a paper, due the next day, and feel the urge to sleep. I always want my Caramel Frap, but it is about Midnight all I could use would be and energy drink and they don't quite do it for me.

I wish I had the time to get a job because it seems like everyone has one. I know not having a job sounds so sad, but now it seems like people from my school are getting them and it is just weird.

Congrats again on getting the job! I love Starbucks, so, if I can afford it next year (which is unlikely), I'll definitely come visit.

I definitely want to get a job at Starbucks, they always manage to get very cool people working there. Altough I can't really explain why, I do pick up on Brown vibes there, but I haven't even visted the school so who knows. What's everyone's favorite drink, mine is probably peppermint mocha, and i also like chantico. It actually taste a LOT like the drinks in Italy that they were trying to emulate.

white chocolate mocha, all the way!

darn it.now i want one.

The Thayer Street Starbucks is SUCH a great Starbucks.

There are better coffee shops around campus...Ocean is on...Angell I believe, which is pretty good, and there's a fair trade place nearby I think, which is where most of the coffee bars in the academic buildings stock stuff from.

congrats! I'm thinking about getting a job at one of the starbucks around here. do you have to be 18?

no , you don't although I dont know what your local regulations are

Starbucks is ok, but the coffeeshop where I work is the antithesis of starbucks, and much better. And, it's open later!

chai over coffee anyone?

yesss rory.. i'm with you all the way :)

I drink tea. It's only $1.87 for a venti.
I do indulge in a mocha frap from time to time...

While I hate the fact that Starbucks is pushing out the local coffee shops (this one that I loved closed about a year after Starbucks opened nearby), they do treat their workers pretty well, which I think is cool.

I hate that a Starbucks small coffee costs more than our large coffee. And it's not even like Starbucks is unspeakably great coffee. What a ripoff.

I was at a 5 hour Starbucks propaganda meeting.

Starbucks coffee costs more because of the incentives they offer to the plantation owners, and their harvesting and roasting methods are better (roasting causes each bean to lose 18-25% of their weight, while it's only about 10% weight loss in other beans, that means Starbucks removes more water to leave fuller tastes).

We also tasted commercial coffee and Starbucks coffee together, and Starbucks coffee was the obvious superior. Starbucks is "the premier purveyor of the finest coffee in the world," near as I can tell.

Oh, Starbucks is good, no denying it, but for a 40% increase in price, it's just not worth it. (We brew Green Mountain.)

So what's the difference between starbucks incentives to plantation owners and fair trade coffee?

they build hospitals and other random humanitarian crap

i really don't care, i get free coffee anyway
