I just got back from dropping my DS off at Groton. I’m so happy that Stargirl is joining the community. It felt great to be there today, but sad to be leaving my baby. I hope that Groton is all you had hoped for!

@Stargirl: It seems that you ended up at a school relatively close to home, or at least in the same state. Hope all works out for you and wishing you the best. I am sure turning down your other school was a difficult decision, but it is through these tough moments that we grow. Perhaps another lucky student can now enjoy your previous spot, enabling them to attend BS. Everything happens for a reason!

It’s not about where we ultimately go in life … it’s about the path we chose to get there.

Welcome to your first day of school! I am beyond thrilled at how long and hard you worked to get to the place you wanted to be, you have arrived. Now that you are there I wish you lots of comfort and support in what is undoubtedly a huge transition. Good luck.

So stargirl is now going to Groton? Cool. I’m a freshman at Middlesex so maybe we’ll see each other during Middlesex-Groton day.

Congratulations on acceptance to two boarding schools in three years! What a wild ride- perhaps you will write a historical fiction book someday chronicling the journey. Congratulations on BOTH acceptances!! And best of luck and enjoyment for the next three years!

Stargirl, I’ve followed your journey for a few years now. Often I found myself shaking my heading, and thinking “if the schools can’t see the obvious promise of greatness in this young woman, I’m lost”. Your poise and character through it all was stunning.

I’m so glad that you received offers and have committed to the school that you feel offers you the best fit. I don’t even know you, but I am very proud of you.

I am also so grateful that we live in a place where bright people of all stripes and backgrounds can be offered these types of opportunities. Huzzah!
