So...Move in week is September 21-25 (wrong dates, but you get the point). But classes start on a Thursday? Does anyone know how that works? Is it just like Monday schedule, but on a Thursday or something?

no, you go to thursday’s classes on the first day of class. you might have a lab or discussion that could be canceled (since you havent learned anything yet), but if theres a lecture, then yea it will be a regular day.

That first Thursday and Friday are meant to make up for the Thursday and Friday missed because of Thanksgiving. At least I think I remember hearing that somewhere. It does seem odd but you just go to whatever classes you would normally have on those days. As the previous poster said, if you only have a discussion that day for a class that would normally be held on Mon-Wed then it may not be held. The prof. will let you know.

oh nice! I have a discussion that day. But does that mean I would be missing a discussion time then?

lol you won’t be worrying about discussion time once you go to class a couple times

dude its really not that big of a deal

they give you a weekly grid that has all of your classes on it, the days they’re on, and the time they meet plus where they are

on the first day, thursday, you look up the column that says thursday and you go to those classes

friday, look up friday’s classes, and go to them

it’s pretty basic

They start classes on Thursday to make up for the days lost on Thanksgiving break.

If you ask me, we should start class on Monday, then have a whole week off for T-giving break. But the UCs don’t really listen to students.

Zero week is fun. Enjoy it, meet people. Great little buffer period to adjust to things, and then short school week. Which in turn equals = party town.
