I started working on college essays today. I am applying two one ED and one EA schools with deadlines of November 1st.
Was it too late to start essays? Do most people finish by the end of their summer?

No, I’d say you’re making good time. Some people start much earlier, and some people start much later. As long as you’re sticking to a schedule and making good progress, you should be in good shape. I started at the beginning of summer and have been editing ever since. However, I decided to completely rewrite my common app personal statement a couple of days ago because my draft wasn’t what I wanted it to be, so we’re kind of in the same place. Don’t stress out too much, but keep working hard!
You’re fine.
Nah. The traditional schedule is to start in fall anyway. Starting in summer seems to be a newer thing to ease the stress a bit in the fall, but it’s really not the end of the world if you start now.
Unrelated note, I drafted half my supplements and all my UC essays over the summer, but refused to even think about the Common App one bc I had nothing to talk about. Still trying to wrap up the first draft so looks like we all in the same boat ;D
