@stargirl3 I used credit cards to scrape off freezing rain/snow combo while visiting boarding schools. The rental car didn’t come with an ice scraper
@cameo43 If the teachers/coaches text the students, do they prefer local phone number? or out of state number is okay? My DS will get a new phone number and we can choose our out-of-state or his BS area code. Perhaps it does not matter. Or do they use land line phones that might incur… I don’t know, what was it called… long distance charge? I don’t have a land line phone so that sounds so foreign… or ancient.
Or I suppose I could get a google voice number for his school area… My hubby has a number of google voice numbers for the several States where he worked.
Nobody really pays attention to area code any more, and with everyone porting their numbers when they move you will find it not really mattering. BS kids have numbers from all over the map, and very few are gotten specifically for BS. Also, most plans have unlimited texting these days.
Your child will than you if you get a number she or he can keep for good and never have to change.
My mom has had our numbers since '92. She says they’ll be our only inheritance.
They’re great for caulking 90 degree angles!
All great ideas. What we found most useful (so far): Amazon Prime account (this gets used constantly), Chase HS debit card, and Global Entry ID. ID is not necessary when flying domestically, but Global Entry gets you through security lines much faster, and is government-issued, without having to risk carrying a passport around.
@GMC2918 Do you have only one Amazon Prime account you share with your child? Or do you do all the purchasing? I’m wondering if there is a way that I can allow my child to make orders himself without sharing my password. Some kind of joint account. Perhaps not.
We have only one amazon account for family that is also kindle and audible account. Although it has worked fine, the boys could read a newest Rick Riordan book at the same time on their iPad/kindle with one purchase (no fighting over), I started to feel we need separate kindle account when my 50 shades showed up on kindle apps on their devices. @-)
We got one more acceptance: NMH off the wait list!
Decisions getting harder.
Congratulations, @paynforward! NMH is a great choice to have!
Congrats, @paynforward! That’s great news.
NMH…is that school any good?
I kid, of course. Just aping some of the post M10 threads here. Congrats!.
Thank you @ChoatieMom @cameo43 !
@SevenDad Ha! Thank you
Wow! Congrats to your son! Good luck on your decision.
Thank you @mathman1201 ! We do hope you get off waitlist too!
So excited for you! Will you revisit??
@jdewey Thank you. Yes, we are revisiting.
@payn4ward, I hope that your revisits went well! In terms of Amazon Prime, so far I just have one account which we share. Usually GMCkid “shops” online and puts things in the shopping cart, and then I complete the transaction. I control it only because I have a default shipping address, which needs to be manually changed to ship to GMCkid at school. One time she forgot to make the change, and everything was sent to me. So now I just do that last part. Maybe next year she will have her own account, which will be tied to her CC and she can manage it, but for now I don’t mind doing it.
Thank you @GMC2918 !
