I am considering starting few club at my school next year. I don't want it to be an abysmal failure, so I would like to know if anybody here would consider joining any.

My ideas are:

A pro-life club (this might not go over so well at a large, liberal, public school, but it would be very provocative)

Some kind of club that's devoted to history

A book club that reads nothing but nonfiction, mostly history, politics, and current events magazines.

Also, my school does not have a phi alpha theta history honors society, so I would like to petition the university to get one. How would I do this?

What do you think? Do I have any good ideas?

well let me give you some thoughts on your ideas first:

I wouldn’t

your school might already have one, you should check before starting one. Furthermore, what type of history.

Might already have a club in place, you may also be able to have the library assist you in some book reccomendations.

I believe you would go to a student life offices and check (if your school has them). I know at my Uni, you have to have a professor sponser your club to make it official.

Of the three, i think the history one would go over the best.

A pro-life club (this might not go over so well at a large, liberal, public school, but it would be very provocative)
I would consider joining this. You definitely would probably tap into an underrepresented population at your college with this club, since you say it’s a large liberal university.

Some kind of club that’s devoted to history
Have you checked to see if your school has one? You’d probably find interest.

A book club that reads nothing but nonfiction, mostly history, politics, and current events magazines.
This might be interesting. I’m not sure how much of a desire there is for this, but if your school has a lot of political science/history majors, this could be popular.

If you’re interested in starting a club, you usually have to have like 10 interested members and a faculty member to petition to start one. If you go to a large school, you probably could find at least 10 people for just about anything you want to start.
