Starting a club

Greetings! I’m currently a freshman and would like to start a club for my sophomore year to improve my school and benefit fellow students, as well as myself. I’ve evaluated several clubs but am currently on a deadlock between several. A little bit of background, I want to study medicine and attend a private catholic school in Puerto Rico that already offers plenty of service clubs. I currently belong to Model UN, Student Council (directive), Math Club, Missionary, and NJHS (VP) and don’t know which I should sacrifice (if I should) to start one of the following clubs. I think starting 2 clubs in a year and presiding them would be too much, but these are the clubs I was interested in:
• Science National Honor Society
• Mu Alpha Theta (Mathematics Honor Society)
• HOSA - Future Health Professionals
• AMSA (American Medical Student Association)

Any suggestions/tips would be greatly appreciated!

Forgot to include: I’ve also considered starting an independent Pre-Med Club of some sort and contacting local hospitals and med schools to offer conferences and shadowing opportunities to members.

How many people go to your school? If it is a small school, starting a more popular club like Science nhs would be a good idea, but if it is a larger school i recommend HOSA (I started my HOSA chapter and it is so so great- lots of things you can do concerning medicine, including conferences, compeititons, blood drives, health fairs, and more)

There are around 100 people per class in my school, so roughly 400 from 9-12. I agree MHS and SHN may attract more people than HOSA or AMSA, but I think I’ll be able to get a good member base in any of them. My big conflict is whether I should go for a club that is more “renowned,” like the honor societies, or something that interests me more, like HOSA/AMSA. I’ve also conflicted about HOSA vs. AMSA, but I think I’m putting HOSA over AMSA because of the feedback I’ve heard. Thank you for your replies!
