I want to start some sort of club at my school that focuses on volunteering. I was considering a Red Cross Club, but I don't know. How do you start clubs and what kinds of things should I do? Is it too late to start one for this year; should I just plan to start it next year?

It may or may not be too late to start a club, depending on what school you go to.
I'd suggest you start a smaller-scale club with a narrow purpose first so you can get experience and figure out how to do the whole club-thing, then go for the important volunteering club. Otherwise your volunteering club might flop.

What type of smaller club would you suggest?

Maybe a club whose purpose is to participate in a single specific community event. Or give a speech to the school at the end of the year. (Anything schoolwide will be easier to manage since you can always put it off.) Or just some silly club. The key is to practice organization, recruitment, etc. Don't use your best idea first.

If possible, try to start out big with starting key club or something.

I started a ping pong club; relatively easy process

What does a Key Club do?

^Key Club is basically a service learning club, so they basically do local community projects and volunteer at events like Relay for Life.

I think if you plan for it next year, you'll definitely have more time for ideas and stuff, especially if you want the club to be successful. Does your school have a community service hour limit? If it does, initiating projects can appeal to your student body. People in my school join volunteer clubs to do their hours basically.

Good luck!
