Starting new College Info website, need feedback

Hi all,

My first post here on these forums, although I read these forums a bunch a year ago when I was a high school senior trying to make this same decision. Now as a college freshmen (EECS at UC Berkeley), I decided I wanted to try to give back to the HS seniors this year by starting a blog to share my experiences and advice on the college admissions process last year.

I've decided to create the site in a blog format - my plan is to essentially create a blog that walks high school students step-by-step through the college admissions process, in real-time (i.e., articles are written as students are going through each step of the application).

You can see the first article I wrote, here:
<a href="http://collegemonster.blogspot.com/%5B/url%5D">http://collegemonster.blogspot.com/</a></p>

My plan's to make the site a completely open forum - anyone can write, and everyone's welcome to give feedback (if there's a lot of discussion I might start a forum). Students can ask questions directly through comments feedback on articles.

I thought I'd give the College Confidential forums a try at getting responses and finding college freshmen (or any college students or alumni, really) to share their own experiences. I'm not entirely sure if this is the right forum, so feel free to move this thread if need be.

The first topic of discussion is: Choosing where to apply. Essentially, the prompt is sharing your own experience with how you decided where to apply to - how you decided what kind of colleges you wanted to attend, how you found them. Your experience could be highly successful or unsucessful - if there were a lot of things you wished you could have done differently, write about it, and give advice on pitfalls to avoid. You can be as personal as you want, and actually I'd encourage everyone to simply tell their own story - rather than having bland generalized views and advice, hopefully the site can get together a diverse compilation of contributors and viewpoints that put together, give a rich and complete view of the college application process.

If you want to contribute, go ahead and post here on this thread, or e-mail me at tejastheory@yahoo.com. I'll post them up on the site (yes, with full credits to your name); if you're really interested in becoming a bigger part or regular contributor to this site, let me know and I can register you onto the blog as a regular contributor with a Blogger account.

Feel free to post here, email me, or IM me at tejastheory at almost any IM client (@yahoo.com, @gmail.com where appropriate).
