Starting over? CSU to CC to UC? Help?

Hi guys thanks for taking your time to read this,

I decide to join the forums because I am really confused on what route to take.

I was in a CSU up in Northern California, and did horrible.

Took 3 classes Fall 2011, failed 2, passed Remedial Math.

Took 5 classes Spring 2012, failed 2 (including Remedial Math), passed English and Computer Arts.

So total I received only 6 units out of 18...

I had a lot of problems going on while I was up there family issues, dad getting heart attack, aunt dying, etc. It seems like a bad excuse but it was really hard for me to concentrate.

I was never a F or D person. I always passed my grades in high school...I had a 3.8 in high school.

I'm back home now in LA now for the summer and next 2 years because I was academically disqualified.

I have a total GPA of 1.1 from up there. I almost feel as if it was just better to go straight to CC instead of wasting time up there.

I'm going to Santa Monica City College to get my life and grades back together. I am planning on transferring after 2 years into a UC.

I am taking 15 units, including a 3 unit course during the summer.

My question is, with such a low GPA of 1.1 from up in my previous school, and my counselor telling me my transcripts will follow me when I transfer, do I even have a chance to transfer into a UC?

Also, I signed up for FAFSA, BOG Fee Waiver, and CalGrant because my parents have a low income. The policy is you must maintain a 2.0 GPA in order to keep the financial aid. Does that mean when the school receives and sees my transcripts from CSU, will they take away my financial aid? I already got my summer course waived, but the counselor said it might get taken away from me.

Please answer!

Thanks!!!

I would look into retaking those classes. UCs will replace the grades if you make it up and pass. Your CC will likely not offer all of the same classes, so you might want to look into making up those classes at your CSU and then coming to a CC.

Lol the CSU is in Northern California, I’m back home in LA. 8 hours apart lol.

There’s no way you could go back for a quarter or two?
