when i went off to school i did awful, then soon after dropped out. I worked for a year before returning to school, and instead of retaking my classes i started over. Now im applying to a university and i read that lying on admissions is subjectable to immediate expulsion. What are my chances of them finding out.

If i were you I would put the truth on the paper. I think your history will help you more than it will hurt you because admission officers like to see someone who fell and recovered from it. It's overcoming adversary.

Try not to lie, explain to them your situation. Universities seriously consider recovery and improvement. I'd go for not lying.
