Is it possible to start practicing for the critical reading portion of the MCAT my freshman year, or should I just wait until I become a junior?
Critical reading skills are the one area of the MCAT that don’t respond to intensive prep, so starting to work on improving your critical reading skills early is a good plan.
Practice reading information intensive materials. (NOTE: the material doesn’t need to be science related.) Try reading articles in The Economist or The Atlantic Monthly or PNAS or similar magazines/journals.
@WayOutWestMom , Thank you so much for the encouragement! I thought I was getting ahead of myself thinking about this issue.
I understand that the critical thinking is a necessity. When should I buy the prep books? I was planning on buying the 2018-2019 MCAT prep book for my freshman year. I’m just not sure.
