I am interested in starting a club called "Future Doctors of America" at my high school, of which I will be the founder and President.

Do you guys have any advice for me regarding this?
I would really appreciate any feedback!

Do you know what you’re going to do?

I would like to major in biology, go into medical school, and become a physician.

No, I meant in the club haha

^ that is the typical 5 bajillion premeds… what makes you unique

Well, the club won’t be for show or anything. We will try to get organizations like hospitals, possibly a forensic dentist, etc. involved and will create (maybe) and pass brochures to the public for H1N1 information and best prevention. We will also help guide students who want to go into the medical field, but aren’t sure of what steps to take and when. We will guide students who may be interested in the medical field, but aren’t sure if they really want to become physicians.

Starting this club is an idea I only surmised several hours ago, so I haven’t thought too much in depth yet. I will do that tomorrow on my day off from school.

Sounds like an awesome club! The best thing is to plan the topics out and what organizations in your local area would work. Idk how big your school is, but if it’s small, the club may not get too many people. I started a science club at school and getting people to participate is sometimes difficult. PM if you want me to tell you more and if we can forge our 2 clubs together to start more expansion!

How are you going to guide them? Everything else sounds sufficient. Best of luck in your new club!

Sounds like a med club.

^It essentially is, and best of luck to the OP for the new club :)

I think the idea of this makes me uncomfortable, as knowing what one wants to do for the rest of his life whilst in high school creeps me out. What if you come to find you no longer have your future planned out?

Our school has 2000 students in the Junior/Senior campus. If we include the Freshman/Sophomore campus, it is around 4100 students.

I love biology, anatomy, and medicine. It’s my great passion, has always been so, and, fortunately, there is a discrete path toward becoming a physician. I also have lesser passions in language (learning Arabic and Mandarin Chinese right now-haven’t had time to continue my fundamental studies from summer) and also in economics.
