Starting to look at housing options

Wanted to just put it out there. I lived in San Diego for 5 years, so I know whats up. I will prob get my own apt in North County and just drive. UCSD dorms are redonkishly expensive.

But I checked Irvine. WOW I was surprised. I thought if i had to settle on UCI rent would be more than tuition but they have super cheap on campus housing.

Just saying. Take a look at on campus stuff just to get a feel for how much its going to cost. So you don't have to waste yur time when you get your acceptance letters lol.

haha, i totally agree with this thread. i was going to make one the other day.

If you are going to be in a room for UCI, get Vista Del Campo

The most luxurious dorming ever! It’s more like an apartment than a dorm

They have their own theater, you can rent it out for your friends
They have their own movie renter

u are my new best good friend. 700 bucks a month? Fucccccccccck San Diego lol.

how much is UCSD?

They are right on campus, included meal plan is mandatory. So its around 10-10.8k a year. And thats only for 9 months, so at least 1100 a month. With most of those double rooms and crap.

I know how great UCSD is academically, but its just so robot feeling there. I’d rather go to Irvine and get a good education and still have fun. (i think)

I was under the impression that it would be expensive as all hell to live there, but its really cheap considering. But you can get a roommate situation in SD for less than that off campus looking on craigslist.

do you know anyone that has gotten madd financial aid to pay for that because I’m trying to get enough financial aid for a one bedroom apartment undergrad at Vista, but the difference in price is a lot.

No. I don’t. I’m not too worried about it since my G.I. bill will pay for school, and I get quite a bit extra for living expenses as well.

You can pay a lil more and get your own room and bathroom in a suite though. But if you want your own pad, you will have to pay more for it. It sux you have to get a student loan to pay for housing that you really like.

UCSD just opened a nice new urban dorm

is that the grad student one?

btw, can’t read spanish…

^^Actually it is

Does anyone know a lot about off-campus housing at UCSD? For example, areas that are close by with easy access to campus through public transportation? No car and I definitely want to live in a house/apartment off-campus. Ahhh… I wish I knew where I was going already!!!

The area is called UTC in La Jolla. A lot of apartments in the area have shuttles or the bus to UCSD.

You can get lucky and find someone looking for a roommate for around 800 bucks or a lil more depending on how nice the apt is. Send me a pm cali if you want to know about the SD area. I used to live there for 5 years.

Cali I’m with you on that
