<p>I just wanted to ask anyone out there what is college life like for commuters to the University of California in Irvine, and if there are any tips to get through freshman year.

<p>I’m a UCI commuter as well. I would recommend joining some clubs to get to know people (everyone will be trying to make new friends in the beginning of the year and it won’t be too difficult). Note that if you’re commuting then chances are you live close to UCI and other people from your high school have noted that as well (so there should be quite a few people from your high school there as well).

<p>I wouldn’t recommend parking at the social sciences parking structure - I parked there for my first quarter and occasionally it got completely full around 12-2 p.m. and made me late for class. I have had no such problems at the anteater parking structure. Be very careful where you park - if you don’t have a preferred permit (I wouldn’t get one over the regular, I don’t think it’s worth it) and you park in one of those spots you can get a ticket (I have heard stories of people getting lots of citations).
