Can someone explain the difference between "lurking variable" and confounding variable" ??? And if you can, plz provide an example that has both of these var.
The test is 2morrow, I'm sooo failing!!! >_<

Well, a lurking variable is like a third variable that is unseen, for instance ice cream sales increase as murder rates increase, however a third variable (lurking variable) such as the summer or the heat could be cause for both. On the other hand a counfounding variable is very much like bias, a confounding variable could be something like order effects, for example if there was an experiment with two different test forms a confounding variable could be the order in which you give the tests (perhaps ppl did better on the first one becuase they were more fresh). Hope that helps.

i'm trying to self study all of stats in 2 days, shooting for a 4. has any1 been successful with something like this?

Have you taken the course at all or just pure self studying?

I'm in paniwani's boat but I'm shooting for a 5. Oh boy! :(

me too...self-studying and trying for a 5...

it is sooo not going to happen...

I essentially self-studied for the last two days--even though I'm taking an AP Stat class; I think we'll be fine.

Eh. I'm self studying, too. I'm good with the first two themes, and now I have to get the last two down. Hehe. <3 Procrastination. But hey, it worked for Human Geography today!

pure studying, no course, all in 2 days, fun fun

I'm shooting for a 3, lol. I'm definitely not a stat person. 5 in calc is fun, but 2 or 3 in stat.... sigh***
