Throughout high school I always wondered how many tests I needed to take in order to receive this award. Today, I received an email letting me know that I had earned the State AP Scholar Award. Figured I could start this discussion so other State AP Scholars could post about their awards and so other students could get an idea of their chances of receiving this award in their state. Not sure that it truly matters considering most of us are already headed to college but it’s nice to get the recognition!
Personally, I took 18 tests throughout high school, earning 15 fives and 3 fours to get the State Award in Iowa.
I just won the State award too! I’m a rising senior from New Hampshire and I’ve taken 16 tests (10 5s, 6 4s) so far. Came as a bit of a surprise - there was a girl at my school who took 10 APs just this year, so I thought I’d definitely be out of the running!
Not sure if I can fit this in on the Common App, but I’ll find a place…
I am taking my son to start his freshman year of college and he found out a couple of days ago that he won for Alaska. He took 15 exams with twelve 5s and three 4s. I agree it does not help much for graduated seniors but for a rising senior to beat out all the other students in the state who have had one more year of high school? Kudos to you WOLFHEART 555!
I’m curious to know how many AP exams the Florida State Scholar took. Sadly, I doubt 19 would be nearly as much for a state like Florida. But then again, maybe the geniuses are too busy taking Florida-exclusive AICE courses?
My son took 24 AP exams (19 5s and 5 4s) in Florida. As far as I know, we haven’t heard anything yet. Does anyone know if there is a “by name” list posted online?
Lol…come to North Dakota. I’m a rising senior that got state AP scholar after taking 9 tests (fives in all). It makes sense since only four to five schools in our state offer APs. In some ways I can see why the award isn’t fair for the people living in large states though.
