I just took the ACT part of the PSAE (a state testing requirement for Illinois). I took the ACT with Writing, but I heard that some colleges don't accept this score, since it is on a state testing day, not a national testing day. I know Northwestern doesn't accept this score, but someone told me that all out of state schools won't take this either.

I talked to some seniors from my school this year, and they said that they definitely used their PSAE ACT scores for college admissions. I'm almost positive that every school takes it.

I know Duke takes it for sure, as long as it has the writing part (which this year it did). I recall someone asking about it at an information session with one of their college reps.

PS - how'd you guys think it went? I thought it was the hardest ACT i've taken so far, but the science was relatively easier than past ACTs.

Math blew. Reading and english were so so. There were a few tricky questions where I felt that more than one of the answers would be perfectly acceptable.

I took the test, too, but I thought that science was the hardest part. I couldn't figure out some of those last ones about gelatin. What was the answer to the enzyme question? I put that the enzyme was the meat ________ (I can't remember the word that goes there).

But I may have read in haste, as it says the ACT without writing for the PSAE. I will call the office sometime and get official word.

rhockey, I'm pretty sure that the enzyme question was asking which one of the answers contained proteases (according to the passage, a catalyst that helps break down protein structures, which means the gelatin can't set). I can't remember which what I put, but I'm pretty sure I didn't put meat tenderizer, where the gelatin did in fact, set.

Who puts meat tenderizer in gelatin anyway?

infiniteabyss, this was my first ACT ever, but I agree. I felt there were some reading, and especially some English questions that could have gone more than one way.

for the last one, it was proteases. the passage talked about how proteases were molecules that catalyzed reactions, and that's what enzymes do =]

Can you guys who took this test get the Test Information Release? It would be great to see if those questions differ from any of the other ACT admins.

I doubt that it does, but my curiosity is piqued.

Chris_C, I don't think so. The test is paid for by the school, and students don't pay any fees. I don't think students can order any sort of test information release from this examination. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The ACTs that are part of the PSAEs are legit; you can use those scores for college admissions.

Did anyone else think the PSAE ACTs were a lot easier? The reading passages were so much shorter, and a lot of the English/math questions seemed like no brainers...

Idk, I took my first round on April 14th...and I thought it was A LOT harder than the PSAE one.

I thought the reading and english tests were easier than normal. The math is always easy for me. And the science portion was much more difficult than any practice tests I had taken. I got mad when I turned to the last passage with five minutes left and saw it was about fig juice. That was soo dumb. But how about that WorkKeys math?!?! Was that not the hardest math you've ever done or what? (sarcasm)

How many tents do you need when you have 8 people and 2 people fit in a tent?

Lol. The Workkeys Math section made me laugh. The PSAE Science section was ACTUAL science stuff though. ACT Science is just stupid charts and graphs.

You need 50 kids for a survey. You have 33 now. How many more do you need? teacher comments about the "trickiness" of PSAE sound in my head....27?

You've got to love the ACT science section. If there were actual science questions, unlike the charts and graphs, most people would probably do poorly.
