I remember applying like sometime in November for their summer 2010 internship program. I've not heard anything since. Does that mean I wasn't selected or are they simply incredibly slow? Thoughts?

give them a call and ask about your status

In mid-December I heard from the Dusseldorf, Germany office about an offer, but I had to turn it down since they wouldn’t pay for travel or housing (my parents could do one or the other, but not both). Just today I got an e-mail from the State Department saying I’ve been accepted to the Summer 2010 program, but it didn’t provide any details and said to expect something in the mail. It also said to start working on my security clearance. I’m assuming this is for an internship in Washington, DC and hopefully this time they pay for something since I did submit an aid form when I applied…

hi. i applied. got an email this morning that i’m an alternate.

yeah, i’m pretty sure that everyone was officially contacted today with the security clearance email if they were selected. i think some offices contacted in december and others didn’t, but today was the more official thing. not positive about this though.

Yeah you’re right blondie08, I got an e-mail stating that I didn’t receive the position. Not entirely sure why, but at least now I know for sure!

can’t do it now cuz i’m not a continuing student… oh well one day when i’m in graduate school i’ll apply again and hopefully my resume will be a lot stronger and thus i’ll be a much more competitive candidate
