State Governor Schools

I'm close to finishing my applications for 2 Pennsylvania governor schools.

I'm a little worried, though, because it asks for either your PSAT or SAT score - I haven't taken the SATs yet, and I didn't do so hot on the PSATs [193]... do you guys think that the scores will make a huge negative impact on my chances?

Also... if anyone's ever gone to any state governors' school (with an emphasis on PA), an experiences shared would be greatly appreciated!

hey i'm applying too! which ones are you applying to? I am applying to science and possibly health care--i really wanna go to science.
from what i've heard your sat/psat dont mean much. I hear it is really based on your essays and your grades and such. and if you show an interest in the topic.

hey! i'm applying to health care and agricultural sciences. I'm actually really hoping that I get into the agricultural science one.

how're you doing on your apps?

I'm applying to Delaware Governor's School which consists of obtaining your transcript along with 2 teacher recommendations. It's not exactly competitive.

PA requires, for science anyway--and the other ones as well i think, application, transcript, 2 teacher recs (1 math 1 science), Extracurricular resume, a narrative statement, and a chief essay, and counselor info/recommendation.
I hear about 500-600 kids apply and about 90-95 make it, so its somewhat competitive.
They judge you against all the applicants from your area, i think i should be fine.
we'll see.
I gotta finish my essay and do the narrative, i get back to school on the 5th, and the app has to be postmarked the 8th...cuttin' it close.

I'm actually worried because they judge people against my own area... my area seems to be pretty competitive.

But... I'm hoping. :)
