I am very confused lol. I got an email today from our financial aid office that says our Michigan Promise scholarship is being partially reinstated. Below is the email:

The State of Michigan recently approved partial funding for the Michigan Competitive Scholarship. We were notified that you are eligible to receive $510 for the current academic year. MSU administration also approved supplemental award funding for you in the amount of $200 for the academic year. Both the Michigan Competitive Scholarship and the MSU Competitive Supplemental Award are being added to your aid package with adjustments being made as appropriate to meet federal financial aid requirements. You do not need to take any actions regarding these changes.

I am confused on quite a number of levels.

For one, I was never notified that I was eligible to receive the Michigan Competitive Scholarship until... well... just now lol. Did they not tell anyone this year? (Btw, I was more than qualified for it, and never quite understood why it wasn't a part of my aid package. Nor was anyone able to tell me at my school or from the state).

Secondly, the $510, is that just for this semester, or is it for each semester ($255 for fall and $255 for spring)? If it's the later, how would they credit that back to my account?

Third, the $510 + $200 supplement = $710. I originally had all $1000 for the MPS from MSU because I was part of their neediest income bracket. So did I lose that $290?

I know these are probably petty questions and I'm confused over nothing, and it's probably a school-specific thing that no one might be able to answer, but if someone could just let me know what the heck MIGHT be going on, I'd be mighty thankful! :D

EDIT: Shoot, I meant to change the title. I was trying to ask Michigan people about what they knew about the Michigan Promise Scholarship, and I kind of diverted from that in the thread. I welcome ALL financial aid people's thoughts, not just Michigan's lol. Sorry!!
