State swim meet

The Texas State High School Swimming Championships are being held this weekend on the UTAustin campus. D will be participating in the 4-A division. Is anyone else gonna be there this weekend? If so, see ya there. Wish her luck, it's her last official competition. She's retiring the suit and goggles after high school.

This gives her another chance to look around UT before that final decision about where to go is made in a month or two.

Good Luck! (I'm a little late)

Thanks, hookem, she did great. 1st in Texas (along with her teammates) in the 200 free relay and 3rd in the 400 relay. Her team only brought 8 qualifiers to the state meet and they still managed to get 4th place out of 44 teams. She also placed in her individual event and in the medley relay. The swimming facilities at UT are awesome. We really enjoyed our stay. Except for the horrible traffic.

Wow, congrats! She doesn't want to swim after high school? Is there a facility at UT for just the average student wanting to swim? I just started swimming a few weeks ago to keep fit.

I'm sure you could use their facilities if you are a student there. My husband went to UT for undergrad school and he said there was a program for non competing athletes.

D's tired of swimming and tired of coaches. I wish she would keep swimming but I'm not the one who had to get up every morning at 5:30 am to get to 6 am practice all year. She worked hard for those trophies.

She's relying on merit aid money instead.

heh, nah I'm not good enough for competing, just doing it for fitness.
