Hi everyone,
I took the ACT state testing today, and think I did worse than usual (I know I didnt answer one question- didnt even bubble it or see it in the test booklet, I know its just one but it was on the reading section and I got a 33 Composite last time, so the margins are pretty tight, plus if I was distracted enough to do that, doesnt bode well for actually improving on a 33… ). I was just wondering, can you cancel state testing scores? Also, do you have to send scores from state testing to colleges? For colleges that require all scores does that include state testing ACT scores? Really appreciate any help.
No, you cannot cancel state mandated ACT tests, and yes, those colleges that actually require all ACT scores include state mandated tests in that requirement.
As parent I didn’t actually realize your kid doesn’t have to take the state mandated school test at all, they just have to take a test for state required results, my kids’ school doesn’t have writing so that is really irritating BUT the question is, is the curve kinder to stronger students because for many of the kids, it is just a throwaway?
Not sure what you mean by one doesn’t have to take a state mandated test but that one has to take a test for state required results. As to your question about the “curve” being kinder to those taking state mandated tests, the answer is no because that is not how ACT works. The score on the 1-36 scale that any particular test-taker gets in a section is actually unrelated to how everyone else taking the test on the same day does. ACT has many test versions which are used repeatedly over the years. The score on the 1-36 scale that any test-taker gets for each possible total of correct answers in a section on any given test day is actually pre-determined based on results on the same or substantially similar tests of all the test-talkers who took the test in years prior, whether as a national or state mandated test.
Does anyone know how long it takes to get state testing scores back?
