<p>It seems the populations in virginia public schools are about half from northern virginia. Here's where you run into the issue of people from the deeper south saying the atmosphere isn't southern, while people from the north will say the people on campus are too nice to call it a northern school. (There's some NYC kids on my hall... they've commented multiple times about how nice people are.)</p>
<p>I have a friend at Charleston... as for diversity, I hear there are very few asians.</p>
<p>James Madison is definitely a growing school, reputation wise. They're the only school in the country besides Princeton that has some weird finance major. (Not A finance major, but this one specific kind).</p>
