Hi!
I am an international student from the European Union. I applied to several American universities and got admitted by one so far - the University of Michigan.
Unfortunately, till the day of submitting the applications I did not really care much about the financial aid. It turned out though, that the University of Michigan does not have ANY financial aid programs for internationals, which from my point of view seems terrible, bearing in mind the tuition costs.
Are there any particular financial aid programs that could help in my situation? Where should I seek any help?

Unfortunately probably not unless it’s a scholarship from your country.

Internationals need to read college aid info thoroughly. Only a handful of colleges have much aid for them. State Us in particular rely on them for money. UMich makes clear they Do not offer aid to intnls.

No one can apply to US colleges without considering aid, but especially not intnls.

Typically, state schools do not give need-based aid to int’ls. Many privates don’t, either.

There are some schools that give merit to int’ls. What are your stats?

What is your major?

How much will your parents pay?

Where else did you apply?

I got into the school of engineering. Applied also to Stanford, Princeton & MIT, got rejected from the latter on Wednesday, though.
I perceived Michigan as my safe choice, though after rejection from MIT I started to feel unsure about admission to the others and unsure about my education in USA as a whole…

Stanford gives little aid to kids from most European countries as they can get all the qualified full pays they want. Princeton meets need if they accept you, but you certainly can’t count on it.

Hopefully you have a good non US backup plan.

Most American kids have to consider financial issues as part of the college application, deciding where to attend, etc, process. Most American kids don’t receive as much financial help as they really need to make college attendance possible. Most American kids attend community colleges and then transfer to 4 year colleges. Most American kids live at home during college. Just FYI.

^^^

I don’t think many int’l kids realize that.

OP, Didn’t you look on UMich’s web site about international FA? It’s rather obvious.
