Statement of Purpose papers

Right now most of the schools I will be applying to require this, they all ask for 1-2 pages, but that is it. I have found nothing about size/font/spacing in regards to this.

Also should I craft a unique Statement of Purpose for each school I apply to?

The schools don’t care about size, font, and spacing. Just use standard ones - something like 10 pt. Arial or 12 pt. Times New Roman. Double-spacing increases readability, but if you choose to single-space take into account spacing vs. length. If you single-space, your statement shouldn’t be much longer than a page; it’ll be closer to two pages if you double-space. But as long as you don’t write it in Comic Sans and it’s concise yet excellently-written, you should be fine.

The basics of your statement will be the same for every school, but yes, there are certain elements you will change for different schools. Usually there’s a paragraph towards the end that you craft to be unique to each school, and that should change. In that paragraph you’ll mention which professors you would like to work with and what resources attracted you to apply to X program, and how you think X program will help you in your career goals.

This is what I use:
Size 12 Times New Roman
Single Spaced
No indent on paragraphs; empty line between each paragraph

I wouldn’t go over 2 pages double spaced. Mine were about 1.5 pages.
