<p>Who long should they be?</p>

<p>For instance I was filling out the Common App for Northwestern and it asked me about the qualities of Northwestern that wanted me to go there. Should this be essay length (i.e. a well though out page or two pages of information) or just a brief (one or two paragraphs) reasoning?</p>

<p>No, it shouldn’t be as long as the main essay. You can be creative about it; look at this one:

<p>Don’t feel you have to top this one. It was probably the best response they received that year. The point is to show that you don’t have to actually answer the question, at least not in a typical way (I like Northwestern because or Northwestern has this and that…etc).</p>
