Hello everyone. I’m a current junior who’s wondering about the statistics and computer science program at UIUC, but more so about the statistics program. I’m unsure if one, the statistics program at UIUC is good (do they have research opportunities, internships, do employers recruit there, etc.), and two, what I should aim for to get into either the computer science and statistics major or only the statistics major. Preferably, I’d like to do computer science plus statistics as I’ve heard computer science is useful within the field, but I’d be happy to major in just statistics as well. Does anyone have any insight they could provide on getting into these majors or how good UIUC’s statistics program is? I recently took the SAT and was able to get a 680 in reading and a 790 in math. Would a 680 hurt my chances of getting accepted in the program? I know UIUC doesn’t only look at test scores, but I’m unsure whether or not I should keep retaking the SAT for a higher reading score. Any information would be helpful. Thank you.
**I posted this before, but I didn’t realize there was a UIUC thread.
