Statistics Course?

Figured that I might as well ask on here...

Anyone know which of the intro statistics courses is the least rigorous? I'm trying to work in a lower-level stats course into my schedule for next semester so I can stay on track for my minor; my choices are AEM 2100, ILRST 2100, PAM 2100, and ENGRD 2700. The last one is 3 credits as opposed to 4 for the rest, but has consistently had a lower median grade. The PAM course appears to have the highest median grade, in any case. Anyone know if any of these classes have a reputation for being easier than the others?

Basically just trying to see if I might be able to squeeze an extra course into a pretty full schedule...

pam for sure. aem second

How difficult is Psych 3500? (sorry to hiijack the thread x])

engrd would be the hardest. it is the only calculus based statistics (on that list).

PAM stats is notoriously the easiest.

both AEM and ILR stats are pretty easy too but at least one of the profs for ILR stats doesn’t teach what’s on the exam and it’s all essay based questions - which is kind of weird for stats, according to my roommate from last year and 2 others (they took it last year). for AEM stats, van Es is a pretty good prof.

Im taking pam right now. its easy but not THAT EASY. I found the first test to be harder than i expected. (the material is mad boring)

ILR is ridiculously easy - you can make cheat sheets for the test - for the final we were allowed 3 whole 8.5 x 11 pieces of paper and could put stuff on both sides…like i said, ridiculously easy

I took AEM 210. Van Es is a marvelous lecturer. She is so excited about the material, which is amusing in and of itself, considering we are talking about stats here. I’m not sure that it would qualify as easy, but it’s definitely not hard so long as you stay on track with the problem sets and studying for prelims. The work load is steady and you have a great support structure in place - Van Es has the best TAs, they all know what they’re talking about and really know how to explain the material.

So, to reiterate, though I don’t know how AEM 210 compares to the others, so long as you budget a few hours a week to the class and go to office hours every now and then, you will be fine.

2700 is not particularly easy

Don’t be a wuss. Take ECE 3100.

ECE 3100 is definitely the easiest stats course at Cornell. Unless you’re really scared of math of course, then you might want to consider MATH 4720. Finally, for those who just want an A with no thought at all, there’s MATH 6740.

waffle which ilr stats did you take?

i took ilr 2100

hey, sorry for hijacking this thread, but does anyone know where PAM 2100 is taught during the spring. I’m trying to design my schedule for next semester…

I’m stil taking ECE 3100 since it’s an ECE major requirement; unfortunately the AEM business minor doesnt accept ECE 3100 as a valid stats course :)

Although AP credit doesn’t count for general engineering, you can use it as an equivalent for the stats minor.

Keep that in mind if you have AP credit from high school

LOL BUT THEY DO AEM 2100?!
Sorry I’m an ILR major but I found that hilarious.
I’ll wait for Ray192 to take over.

PAM 2100 is easy, but remember that cornell puts the mean grade on the transcript right now. So if you get a average below that, it might be bad.
I personally liked aem 2100, van es was real fun :D

Oh well…as it turns out ENGRD 2700 counts as outside technical elective credit… sigh guess there’s no way around it
