Statistics Courses

Hi,
I am an incoming freshman Fall 09 trying to fulfill the Sociology Major req. for statistics with a statistics course.

Right now i want to choose Stats 002 soley because it has the lowest number so it should be the easiest (when i say easiest i mean by the competition for A's. However, if anyone can dispell this myth, I may just decide to take the other STats courses such as 021 because I think I am proficient in Mathematics with 750+ on SATII.

Thanks

Stat 2 is the easiest course. Stat 20/21/25 are used for Haas prereqs, so I would expect them to be much harder than the other lower div stat courses.

If you want the easiest Stat 2 experience, take Stat XB2 online through UC Berkeley Extension next summer.

If you have had calculus in high school and want a class I think many people take, try Stats 134. This would probably teach you much of the statistics you would ever want to know.

Don’t take 134…

If you want to learn the stats you need, take 2 (or 20 or 21).

While 134 goes more into depth in probability, the lower division classes include topics not in 134. If you were to also take 135, you would get all the topics in greater depth but you probably do not want to take 134/135.

^seconding cnat, 134 is a really hard course.

I took 134 thinking it would be better for me than 2, but that class confused the **** out of me and I ended up getting a C. Now I am taking Stat XB2 through extension online.
