statistics exams

are the exams night exams or are they taken in class? what days are they usually on?

Night exams. The final can be in the morning to night, depending on when the registrar office schedules it.

It all depends on the professor. My exams were during class.

what was is like for meghan mocko’s class?

No idea, but feel free to read her ratemyprof page…she seems to have a lot of reviews.

mocko’s exams are scheduled for nights from 820 to 10. except the final which depends. they cannot be in class because the class is online and the in class period is too short. As far as I know everyone enrolled in stat 1 for this fall will have mocko (who is really nice and helpful but kind of dry). Stat 2 is different for each section.

Mocko pairs up different sections of the class to take together. So, for example, I had the live section of the course and we bundled with 1 or 2 different sections for each test. There are approximately 8 different testing rooms per test, if my memory serves correctly, and 1-3 sections per room. Don’t worry, you’ll have all day before the test to immerse yourself the fabulous world of statistics and z tables :D

how hard is stats? i have heard from some people that it is hard, but others said it was easy. i have taken calc 1 and got an A in it, so i am not bad at math, but it was a really time consuming class for me. i was just wondering how time consuming stats is?

It’s on the more time consuming side. The weekly online exams are extremely annoying and the labs (on the other side of university) are a complete waste of time. However, with a good background at math and putting some real time into studying, especially for exam 2, you shouldn’t have a problem. The biggest thing is just keeping up with the course. Also, only 3 tests without curves (I believe) so there’s a lot of pressure. I’d give it a 5 or 6/10 on the difficulty meter, 10 being most difficult. As a comparison, I’d give Microeconomics a 4/10 and Macro a 7/10, all with regards to getting A’s. Stats is a very easy B…like veerryyy easy.

Depends. I took AP Calc and got an A in it, and Statistics kicked my ass. You have to be the sort of person who can really dedicate themselves to watching online lectures, being very self-motivated, studying with no immediate incentive, etc. The best practice you get for the tests are in the weekly quizzes she puts online, but those are such a hassle that you want to rush through them and get them over with. Don’t buy the textbook - it’s useless. So are labs, but you’re forced to attend those.

If you can make yourself reaaaaally sit down and study the material throughout the semester (not just in the handful of days before tests) the class shouldn’t be too difficult. This, however, is much much harder than it sounds.
