Hey guys, I have a question about the order in which I should take my statistics upper divs.

I took stat134 in spring2012 and I plan on taking stat133 in fall2012. Would it make more sense to take stat155 or stat135 in spring2013, since i know 155 is only offered once a year. I don't know which I should take first.

Help! and thanks

What prevents you from taking two statistics courses in one of the semesters?

I’m a cs stat double major, so I’m already planning on taking cs70, ee42, and one of the stats courses in spring2013. I’m not sure if I can handle 4 technicals at once. Or if I took another technical, I think i’d rather take a cs upper div since I don’t want to get rusty (and cs70 seems more like a math class than a cs class)

If it fits your schedule, I suggest taking Stat 135 in Fall 2012, there are still empty seats for declared majors according to the online schedule. Stat 133 should be a cakewalk if you’re a CS major so that won’t take up much if any time at all. I believe Stat 135 builds on a number of concepts from 134, so having it fresh in your memory would be very beneficial.

Stat 155 on the other hand is kind of a standalone topic that can be more Math than Stats imo. At least that was the case when I took it with Prof Lugo.

Make sure you plan for the Stat 15x lab classes as well. If you’re a CS major, you’d probably be interested in Stat151b which is usually only taught in the Spring.

Hmmm. I’m planning on taking math54, cs61c, stat133, and a writing r5b in fall2012. It wouldn’t be plausible for me to take 135 as well. Thanks for the input though.
