Statistics on transferring?

im an international student and i go to wesleyan college. i applied to amherst last year and didnt get in but i have my heart set on going there. what are the chances of getting in if you are applying as a transfer student?

Wesleyan... University?

yeah sorry,

...i had just woken up. still..... statistics?

Check out the Reports to Secondary Schools here. Last year they accepted 18 out of 276.

If you didnt get in as a transfer, do not apply again. Most schools say that you need another year before you can re-apply. You will most likely get rejected again because you are international and they are need-aware.

Amherst College is not "need blind" in evaluating international students. In considering you for admission, Amherst does take into account whether or not you have applied for financial aid. If claims of permanent residence or US citizenship are determined to be false, financial aid at Amherst is subject to revocation.

donjuan, maybe I misread but I thought fitchmoose was saying he/she didn't get in as a freshman last year, not that he/she didn't get in as a transfer. Either way, though, you are right: chances for an international student (especially one needing aid) are not very good anyway and probably won't be any better as a transfer. Especially since the class of 2011 is much larger than was initially anticipated.
