Does anyone know a formula for the variance of nice groups such as
{1,2,3,4,5,6}
{1,2,3}
{2,4,6,8}

Dont post it, but I was just wondering if anyone else knows it, because I cant find it online.

Uh, you could enter that information into your TI.

This formula is a lot faster and more accurate than entering into a TI. It has the limited range (as specified) but in problems like dice and stuff It makes it really easy to do.

Well for well-defined sets like those, can't you just memorize the variance, since there are no variables? Correct me if I'm wrong..

Memorize the variance of an infinite set??? If you do some of them out you will probably arrive at the formula. Its not in books, or atleast none of us have seen it in one yet.
