Stats 134 Summer

I'm a freshman planning on taking Math 53 over the summer as well as a statistics course. I plan on taking Stats 20 and then continuing with 134 in the Fall, but I was curious if anyone thought it would be reasonable to skip 20 and do 134 over the summer instead. Or would that be too difficult. I took AP Stats in high school (yes, I understand that it has calculus now), never paid any attention and got a 4, but that's the extent of my exposure to statistics. Thoughts?

Thanks.

the only prerequisite for 134 is calculus. even if you’ve never had exposure to stats at all, you should be fine.

that being said… the class is curved and everyone you’re competing with in 134 has had exposure to basic stats or cs70/math55, so…

So do you suppose it would by more prudent to get a general feel for statistics in Stats 20 than to skip ahead due to the curve?

Because of the shortened time frame, summer courses will be more challenging than the academic year equivalent. The curve will probably be a little easier. But unless you already know that either class will be completely trivial, don’t take both Math 53 and Stats 134 during the same summer. I would recommend taking just one class or possibly adding a humanities course.
On top of that, I’ve heard that Stats 134 is a pretty tough class on its own.

Alright. Thank you.
