stats EA

ellafunt, why in the world are you retaking a 1520? That's basically the same as a 1600 in an adom's eyes.

i know it sounds stupid, and trust me, my friends have said it often enough...it's a cummulation of smaller reasons:
1) i took four practice tests and didnt get below a 1550 on any of them
2) my cousin got a 1560 and she's from texas! i can't be shamed :X
3) i bubbled two answers wrong, which is just plain stupid/irritating

redr002, you totally just made my day. :)

glad for the boost, and I really mean it, too! I'm impressed.

By the way, can you tell me (us) a little bit about your international relations club?

Sure. The International Relations Club at my high school is pretty open in terms of what we want to do. Basically if we find something interesting or something in the news sparks our interest, we bring it to the club and see if we can do something about it.

For example, when the War in Iraq was just starting, we had a forum at our high school for anyone who wanted to come. We had a bunch of student panelists from the club as well as panelists we invited to come (the Lt. Governor of our state for a political perspective, an officer from the Army for a military perspective, and because we're a Catholic school, a priest for a religious perspective). It was basically like a moderated debate and people could ask questions at the end.

We also had a mock presidential debate with two club members acting as Kerry and Bush (and me as moderator). The two guys really got into character and were handing out campaign buttons during school and shaking hands with random people in the hall; it was really fun. They were given what topics the debate would cover but not the exact questions, and they prepared really well so it turned out great.

So obviously we've done a lot with international politics especially with the War in Iraq, but we also do more cultural-type events. We had a "Coming to America" celebration where any student who had parents who immigrated to the US could come with their parents and we had foods from all their different countries and different music, etc. Two years ago we had an Austrialian exchange teacher who switched places with one of our regular teachers for a year, so we had a "Down Under Day" where he came and talked about Austrialia and showed pictures, and students could ask questions such as how US high schools were different from Austrialian high schools, etc.

Right now we're working on sending letters and care packages to members of the military in Iraq. One of the members of our club has an uncle in Iraq so we're sending a few boxes to him and his unit for Christmas. In the spring we'll also be sending materials to Iraq, but through a different programs where soldiers ask for school supplies to distribute to Iraqi children.

Ok, wow, that turned out to be a really long answer. Anyways, that's our club. Hope it answered your question!

Yes, you did, and thanks for taking the time to answer! Very interesting, and sounds like you all do really good work.

Wow! The most involved club in my school is the football team.
