2010 (690 Math, 670 Critical Reading, 650 Writing)
800 Math 2, 730 Bio M, 670 Lit, I believe

Extremely involved in NASA Ames US FIRST team 254,
started "unofficial" robotics club at my highschool (no support from administration)

I have no idea what my recs said (although I'll ask to see them after school gets back)... I know my teachers liked/respected me

My essays were really good, if I do say so myself... One of the longer ones was a "traditional" college essay narrative, the other was humerous. Except for the longer one, I tried to keep my writing fairly light-hearted, while demonstrating my passion for math and science.

I thought it was a reach school, primarily for my SAT1 score and the fact that HMC seemed too good for me. I'm actually kinda upset that I can't get any type of merit scholarship (Get a 2150+ and you'll basically get 10k a year).

congrats to you!
oh and i did forget about AP/ACT..anything else you people might like to mention. and for those deferred, there's still another chance :D, and to those who didn't make it...HMC's loss :D

I was rejected flat out. moral of this story is don't have bad SATs they must be well rounded if they are low. I had 740 math and 550 CR. I had 800 Math 2 750 Chem. 5 AP chem 5 AP BC calc (I self studied with 0 help) I was rewarded with Honors on the National Chemistry Olympiad test (that is top 150 in the nation). I took AP US and AP English and got 3's. This year I am taking 2 college courses and got A's in both. I thought I wrote fairly good essays. My teacher recs should have been really good. O ya and I am taking 4 APs this year in addition to 2 college courses and got a B in the European History and English and A's in Physics C and Biology. I guess HMC isn't just looking for a math and science kid because I have never had less than an A in math and science and decent Math and science SATs. And when I called to find out what was going on because the Cross Country Coach who really seemed to be interested in my sent me a letter saying I didn't get in I was told that all the admissions officers looked at my application and that they felt I was not the top of the ED pool and would have no shot at all in RD pool so they wanted to be up front with me. So I don't know what they are looking for but I guess it sure as hell wasn't me.

Accepted

SATI: 1480 (770M, 710V) I doubt HMC puts much stock in the writing section

SATII:800 MathIIC, 720 Chem

GPA: 3.94 UW, 4.7W, Never gotten a B in a math or science course

APs: 5 on Chem, 4 on World, English and French

I've played soccer and run track all four years of high school. I also have done a lot of percussion stuff. My essays and recs were very good and I have legacy. Also the fact that I am on the east coast and applying early might have helped, but im not sure.
