yes don’t kid yourself into thinking that being a minority is not a hook. At georgetown it is THE hook

Not true, I was deferred as a Hispanic with stats that for the most part indicate I am well within the range of being accepted. Granted, there are likely other factors to my deferral, but a “hook” certainly does not excuse them.

Ditto^^ I was deferred and I’m Indian. My stats were above average for Georgetown but being a URM didn’t help me out.

you were accepted and you cant spell deferred?

I failed my life.

I’ve no idea how the GT admission works. I got into both UChicago and MIT and got DEFERRED from GT. Haha, funny.

Was Georgetown your first choice?

It’s my third choice.

Then why do you say you’ve failed your life? You are accepted into two other amazing schools! Life is good.

Yes, life is good after I found out I got accepted by MIT!

MIT, Chicago, Georgetown-You aren’t going to college for the football.

wow EdwardJ, deferred at Georgetown and accepted at MIT?? congrats on MIT! haha this college admissions process really is unpredictable!

I don’t find it that surprising at all. It’s all about being a good “fit”. MIT and Georgetown are worlds apart, and I suppose the admissions process recognized this. I hope you appreciate MIT!

^ I suppose that is true. But I still found it surprising^^

I guess it’s because there are more space for me to really show my world on the MIT app. Sometimes more essay requirement is better.

Hey guys!
I’m new to CC and I was just wondering if any of you could help me out.

I was deferred EA at GU this December and I’ve been thinking about what the next steps would be for me. I read about this “letter of intention” that some people were talking about. Is there an actual form that one can download to do this or is it really just a letter addressed to the admissions office?

Also, for the letter, what kinds of things have people notified GU of besides mid-year grades and scores (I’m done with all of my standardized testing)?

Let me know what you think my chances are of getting in RD, please.
