Stats Rank 1/324, GPA 4.0/4.5, ACT 35, 12 AP’s, Lots of EC’s, com. service. Accepted end of October/November. I hope this is helpful.

Are any of the people above in the honors college or planning on attending Baylor and is so, why?

the stats so far are very competitive. would it be impossible to get in with a 3.5 gpa and a 1700 sat score? thanks

I’m not doing honors because it would essentially require me to stay at Baylor for 4 years. I’m transferring about 60 credits (2 years) so it wouldn’t make much sense. I’m planning on attending Baylor because it’s pretty high up academically and they offered me a nice scholarship and it’ll make my conservative parents at peace with the idea of me staying away from home for 2-4 more years.

A 3.5 sounds great. I don’t know anything about SAT scores sorry. I would rec that you apply early like Sept or October as soon as you can.

Only three people posted their states, so don’t get too worked up.

You can find Baylor’s average scores online and see how well you compare to them.

Baylor has about a 50% acceptance rate from what I heard, but I also heard that since so many people were depositing in the freshman class, they essentially had to up the expectations for people who applied later in the year if that makes sense…? But those could just be rumors…

I am not aware of the exact number, but my GPA was not competitive. Unweighted, I estimate it to be around or below 3.5. I was in the second quartile of my high school class. One positive aspect of my transcript was that I took almost entirely AP or Pre-AP/Honors courses.

My SAT was 1980 (1340 composite).

I had some fairly strong ECs, but nothing over the top.

I also applied early. (Got my acceptance in late November.)

Based on my experience and the experience of a few other students I know at Baylor, it doesn’t take exceptional stats to get in. In the grand scheme of things, BU is not what most would call a “competitive” school. It’s a middle-of-the-pack kind of school. All types of students attend–from the overachievers to the average. Admissions standards change slightly from year to year, but I think that if your daughter applies as early as possible (Sept or Oct would be ideal), she’ll stand a very good chance of being accepted.

thanks to everyone, especially bearArms. I’ll forward this info to my dtr and she’ll probably go ahead and apply early.
