could someone please post their stats? my dtr is interested in applying in the fall. not sure if she has the grades or sat/act to get accepted. thanks!

Unfortunately, that won’t help much. With review admits, one candidate with a particular set of test scores and class rank might not get in while another candidate with the same scores would, simply because the reviewer liked their EC’s or their essays or something equally obscure.

That’s assuming she doesn’t qualify for an academic admit: You probably already know it, but the automatic / academic admittance criteria are listed on the Admissions web site: [Academic Admits](http://admissions.tamu.edu/freshmen/gettingin/waysAdmitted/academic.aspx)

There’s some statistical information on admissions in the Common Data Set (2010, et al), which you can access from the OISP page: [Official Texas A&M Reports and Statistics Services from OISP](http://www.tamu.edu/customers/oisp/reports/) Section C7 describes the relative weighting of the various parts of the application in the acceptance process. Section C9 lists the relative percentage of last years admits with specific ranges of test scores.

Lastly, for a single data point, my daughter barely got in (ie., Blinn TEAM) three years ago with a top 25 percent class rank and an 1150 Math+CR SAT score.

There are more ways to be admitted than there were then, all of which are worth looking into, but the nearly foolproof backdoor admission (TAMU Galveston) is still available for those absolutely determined to go to Texas A&M.

My son was accepted to TAMU Engineering school

Top 43%
sat m 690
sat cr 640
Elite level club sport athlete – don’t know if it helped

My advice is to apply as early as possible because majors fill up fast and can get stuck into General Studies. TAMU has been very slow with financial aid compared to his other choice (LSU).

Top 10%
ACT: 30
GPA: 4.1W
Accepted for Aerospace Engineering

Advice: apply early (rolling admissions and most of them get handed to academic admits but applying as a review admit early can help your chances), visit the campus as much as possible, write amazing essays that make you stand out as a candidate, and make sure you appear well-rounded and committed/involved in your ECs and area of interest. Convince A&M why you should be there and what you’re going to do with a degree from their university.

Being an academic admit is a life saver. If not, it really all depends… usually based on the major. Texas A&M puts a lot of weight on rankings and scores so I would personally take advantage of whatever time is left in the school year to improve as much as possible.

thank you all so much for your input. it’s helped a lot
