stats for OOS applicants?

Does anyone know what type of stats would be needed to get into UVa as OOS applicant?

Close to Ivy League -- at least that is what I have heard.

ha, ya my stats were NOWHERE NEAAAAR IVY LEAGUE....i got in from NY ;)

1280 SAT 1910 new...3.88 GPA

tough coruses, tough school, good recs, amazing essays, amazing ec;s

If I remember correctly, you applied to the Nursing school, which I think is generally not as relevant in the same sense as someone OOS applying to A&S or engineering.

The average stats are indeed not as close to ivy league as you may think, but OOSers are typically in the top 5% of their class, often higher, with around a mid 1400 (old) SAT.

The stats are certainly in the ballpark of those needed for most schools in the ivy league. The typical OOS applicant is top 5%, has a 1400+, etc, which is about the same as what is seen at the lower ivies.

wooa wooa sv3a, i take ur comment to be insulting...i worked my tail off and my application was strong. It isnt all about scores and im glad UVA saw that.

i dont feel me getting into UVA should be made less then it is just b/c of which school i applied to.

Doogie, what he meant is that stats of students entering A&S and engineering are different from those of people entering the nursing school, and the vast majority of applicants on this board are applying to A&S and engineering.

u sure he meant that....didnt look that way to me

i'm from florida and i had a 2140 sat (700m 700cr 700w), 3.45 uw gpa, great ecs, great recs, good essays, and tough courses

Doogie: Okay? It seems you are a little bit too insecure about your status at UVA. I said it then, Cavalier has already repeated it, and I will say it now: At the very least in my understanding, the nursing school does not have comparable admissions to CLAS or SEAS, both of which the vast, vast majority of the people here apply. Usually if someone is an exception to this they would specifically say so when they ask about admissions standards. Therefore stating your statistics, and how they are nowhere near ivy league, and then disregarding the fact that you applied to the nursing school does not help the OP in her question.

Almost everyone 'works their tail off' on their application to UVA, and all make it as strong as possible. It is indeed not all about scores or stats, as UVA takes a holistic approach, but when it comes to CLAS or SEAS, those are the primary indicators of one's admission to UVA and what we are getting at here. The Nursing school may be different, but that's not important here.

It seems you are a little bit too insecure about your status at UVA.

yaa im not

Who's insecure about his status at UVA? sv3a is an Echols Scholar...lol.

if you're referring to me, i'm definitely not insecure about my status at uva

maybe my grades suck this year and it would be terrible to get my admission rescinded haha

but actually, i think it's hilarious i got in

they were referring to me.

i am not insecure, and i dont really care whos an echols scholar

unlike some people in this chat, i dont need to wear my accomplishments on my sleeve

No one is wearing his accomplishments on his sleeve. You're being a tool, doogie.

how so cavalier?

You've come into this thread taking everything too seriously and you've made a few unfair characterizations.

well i dont like to be put on a less then = level just because of what school i got into at UVA

It was never implied that you were inferior to anyone because of the school you're attending. Re-read the thread.

nope i read it and thats wut i interpreted it as
